    Overview of Alliance Bank Credit Cards

    Alliance Bank is part of the Alliance Financial Group, a dynamic, integrated financial services group offering end-to-end financing solutions through its Consumer Banking, Business Banking, Islamic Banking, Investment Banking and Stockbroking businesses.

    Alliance Bank was established on 19 January, 2001, with the successful merger of seven financial institutions. The newly-merged entity’s name and logo were unveiled to the public for the first time.     Types of Credit Cards Offered by Alliance Bank

    Alliance Bank offers 11 different types of Personal Credit cards to its patrons across different categories.

    Basic:

    Rewards:

    • Classic Card - These are basic rewards cards with options for TBP and Air Miles redemption.
    • Gold Card - Gold cards offer 2x Timeless Bonus Points on overseas retail and utility spending and hence, a very good option for overseas travel.
    • Platinum Card - Platinum cards have a cash advance withdrawal of up to 100% of your credit limit. It also comes with unlimited Complimentary Access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.
    • Visa Infinite Card - A card with a host of benefits like Lifestyle Concierge Service, AirAsia BIG Points and Enrich Miles, and golfing, dining, hotel and travel privileges. This card also comes with contactless payment feature.

    • Rebates: Offers cash rebates on partner stores as rewards.
    • Rates: Offers a low interest rate of 9% p.a. as long as you pay promptly.

    • Chinese Independent School (CIS) Card: Allows you to make a contribution to a CIS fund/foundation of your choice.

    Supplementary Cards

    Effective from 28 February, 2015, features and benefits of all Alliance Bank Prepaid Cards were withdrawn and all Alliance Bank Prepaid Cards were discontinued.

    Annual Fee Waiver Conditions:

    • Infinite: Waived upon minimum spend of RM30,000 in a year.
    • Others: Waived upon a minimum spend of RM5,000 or on swiping your card 12 times within a 12-month period.

    Other Types of Fees:

    • Cash Advance Fee: 5.3% of the amount advanced or a minimum of RM15.90, whichever is higher, per transaction. Cash Advance withdrawal is allowed up to 80% of the credit limit of your card. For Business Platinum Card, it is up to 75% of the cardmember’s prescribed credit limit.
    • Replacement Card Fee:
      • RM15 per Visa Basic Card.
      • RM50 per card for all other credit cards.
    • Sales Draft Retrieval Fee:
      • Basic: RM5.30 per copy.
      • Others: RM 21.20 per copy.
    • Additional Statement Request Fee: RM5.30 per copy.
    • Overseas Transactions Conversion Fee: Transactions made in foreign currency shall be converted to Ringgit Malaysia at the conversion rate and charges as determined by MasterCard or Visa and shall be inclusive of 1% foreign exchange conversion spread by Alliance Bank.

    Holder of all existing and new Alliance Bank principal credit cards may apply to transfer outstanding amount balances (including principal, accrued interest, finance, and other charges as shown in the latest credit card statements) from other card accounts relating to any other credit cards held by them (except Alliance Bank credit card) to any Alliance Bank credit card account held in their name.

    The Alliance Bank Cash Back Programme is subject to the following terms and conditions and to the Alliance Bank Visa/MasterCard cardmember agreement.

    • The Cash Back Programme is applicable to Alliance Bank You:nique Rebates and Business Platinum Credit Cards only.
    • The Cash Back Programme awards cardmembers with cash back on retail purchases (except for cash advance, balance transfer, fast cash, fees and charges such as finance charges, late charges, annual fees, Goods & Services Tax (GST) imposed by the bank, reversed, disputed, split and/or void transactions) at the rates and/or tiers determined by the bank.
    • Cash back will not be awarded for retail spending of RM300,001 and above for Alliance Bank Business Platinum Credit Card.

    The Alliance Bank Rewards for Alliance Classic, Gold, Platinum, Visa Infinite and You:nique Rewards Card is subject to the The Rewards Programme’s terms and conditions in combination with the Timeless Rewards’ terms and conditions and the Alliance Bank Visa/MasterCard card agreement.

    • The Rewards Programme is applicable to Alliance Bank Generic (non co-branded) Classic, Gold, Platinum, Visa Infinite and You:nique Credit Cards only.
    • The Rewards Programme awards cardmembers with Timeless Bonus Points on retail purchases (except for cash advance, balance transfer, fast cash, fees and charges such as finance charges, late charges, annual fees, Goods & Services Tax (GST) imposed by the bank, Reversed, Disputed Split and/or Void Transactions) at the rates and/or tiers determined by the bank.

    1. How can I pay my Alliance Bank credit card bills?

    Ans. Payments for your Alliance Bank credit cards can be easily made through the following:

    • Cash or cheque at Alliance Bank branches nationwide.
    • Standing Instruction (via deduction from your Alliance Bank savings or current account).
    • Cheque Xpress/Cash Deposit Machines at selected branches.
    • Internet banking via allianceonline.

    2. What if I fail to fulfill my obligations?

    Ans. The bank will levy a late payment penalty charges of minimum RM10 or 1% of the total outstanding balance due, whichever is higher up to a maximum of RM100.

    Alliance Bank has the right to set-off any credit balance in any one or more of your accounts maintained with them against any or all outstanding balances in respect to your card.

    3. What should I do if I lose my Alliance credit card?

    Ans. In case your card is lost, stolen or misused you must notify the bank immediately, followed by a written confirmation sent to the bank. If there is any unauthorised use of your card before the report is made, you may be held liable for all the charges and expenses whatsoever incurred in relation to your card. You must also promptly lodge a police report. Alliance Bank requires a police report for any loss, theft or unauthorised use of your card. The bank may, at its absolute discretion, decide to limit your liabilities for such unauthorised transactions to RM250, provided you have informed the bank of the loss promptly, and that you have not acted dishonestly or negligently, and there is no misuse of the PIN number assigned to your card.

    4. What do I need to do if there are changes to my contact details?

    Ans. You need to inform the bank of any changes in your contact details to ensure that all correspondences reach you in a timely manner. You can either call Alliance Bank Contact Centre at 03-5516 9988 or visit any Alliance Bank branch to update your contact details.

    5. What would be rate of interest on balance transfer after I pay the minimum due?

    Ans. The prevailing rate of interest of 18% p.a. shall be levied on the outstanding monthly balance from the due date until the date of full settlement.

    • Alliance Bank Aims at 10,000 Customers for Its Business Credit Card in 2016

      Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd wants to bring 10,000 local companies under its new Visa Infinite Business Credit Card by the end of the year.

      The bank will be approaching their existing customer base of 85,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at the outset, said their Executive Vice-President and Head of Group Transaction and SME Banking, Victor Khor.

      The company claims that the card is the first of its kind for business customers. They are offering Kaligo Business Plus rewards, VAT recovery fund, longer repayment period with up to 56 interest-free days, and zero percent interest repayment plan on overseas purchases.

    • First Issuance of Alliance Bank Sub-MTNs, complete

      Alliance Bank just completed its first round of Sub-MTNs worth RM 900 Million. Sub-MTNs Sub-MTN stands for Subordinated Medium Term Notes. The bank had a separate program called the Subordinate Medium Term Notes Program which was supposed to look into the issuing of these notes.

      Sub-MTNs carry a coupon rate of 5.75% per annum and have a tenure of 10 years. The Subordinated Medium Term Notes are callable on any coupon payment date beginning from the first call date of the coupon.

      Sub-MTNs come under the category of Basel-III compliant Tier 2 capital. Alliance Bank had obtained approval from BNM for issuance of Sub-MTNs on August 28th, 2015.
