    • With Management Reshuffle, CIMB Aims to Meet Strategic Priorities

      In order to meet the changing operational landscape of the banking sector and stay ahead of the competition, the CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has decided to reshuffle its top management. The banking group has also announced new appointees to fill in key positions.

      Omar Siddiq has been appointed as the group’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). He will be tasked with overseeing the group’s finance, operations, and technology divisions, and would resume this post from 26 November 2018. Mr Omar previously headed the wholesale banking section of RHB Bank Bhd. He also worked for Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Malaysia Airlines Bhd.

      Shahnaz Jammal, the present Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of CIMB Group, will take over the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for wholesale banking. Khairulanwar Rifaie will take her place as the group CFO. Currently, Khairulanwar is the CFO of CIMB Malaysia and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd.

      Effendy Shahul Hamid will lead the new Group Ventures and Partnerships that will focus on digital partnerships. Meanwhile, Gurdip Singh has been appointed as the Chief Strategy and Design Officer for the group.

      Victor Lee Meng Teck will join CIMB on 17 January 2019 to head the group’s commercial banking and transaction banking sector.

      Group CEO, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, has said that the new appointees and reshuffle of roles is an effort to cement the bank as a leading financial institution among the ASEAN countries.

    • CIMB Wins Big at Malaysian Chief Marketing Officer Awards

      The inaugural Malaysian Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Awards were held recently to celebrate the contribution of individuals in the marketing communications industry. CIMB Bank Bhd won 3 awards, the most won by a single financial establishment.

      Newly launched initiatives, such as data analytics, have yielded results, with the group bagging the title of Best Marketer in Customer Experience Marketing. CIMB also won the awards for the Best in Data and Tech, and Best in Retail and Promotions Marketing.

      Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah was awarded as the Best Marketer in Retail and Promotions Marketing, while the title of the Best Marketer in Customer Experience Marketing was given to Manpreet Tejvir Singh. Chayenne Tan won the award for the Best Marketer for Data and Tech.

      The awards were announced as part of the seventh annual Malaysian CMO conference which was attended by Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia.

    • CIMB Group foresees profit by the end of the year

      CIMB Group expects a record net profit in the end of this year, after seeing a massive growth in the CIMB Bank's consumer banking services.

      The groups CEO, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, said that the group also sees an improvement in the capital market activities, which will also improve the profits of the group's wholesale banking services.

      CIMB group's net profit in the first half of this financial year was RM2.36 billion, when compared to RM2.28 billion, their profits posted at the end of the last financial year.

      The group is currently targeting their gross loans. So far the loans have totalled up to approximately RM330 billion in the first half of this financial year. The group's gross impairment ratio is the same as it was previously (3.2%).

      However, there was a slight decrease in the group's net interest margin. While it was 2.71% in the first half of the previous financial year, this year it was at 2.52%.
