    • Hong Leong Bank Hopes Banking Policies Would Continue to Remain the Same

It's been two weeks since Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus was appointed as the new governor of Bank Negara. With the quick change of governors, Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) doesn't expect any major banking policy changes.

The Group Managing Director and CEO, Dominic Fuda is of the opinion that the existing policies could remain the same as the new governor has been working with the central bank for more than 30 years.

Fuda had mentioned earlier that the bank has allocated capital expenditure worth RM230 million for the ongoing financial year. Half of the funds will be invested towards going digital, as around 48% of customers have been using digital platforms for banking in the previous financial year.

The bank will not be downsizing the employees, but are working on boosting their skills to handle digital requests. 150 employees have been allotted to different branches to take care of the bank's SME lending business. As a move to go completely digital, the remaining capital will be used to upgrade 50 branches.

HLB is the premier bank in the country to have their own Facebook Augmented Reality (AR) Experience. In the upcoming week, seven Facebook AR filters will be released by the bank to create a unique experience for the 89.3% of the Malaysians who use social media sites regularly.
