    Latest News About OCBC Bank

    • OCBC Bank announces new study loan with low interest rates

Students in Malaysia can now apply for an education loan from OCBC Bank at a low interest rate of 6.14% p.a. The new rates were introduced by the bank due to the increasing demand for study loans and to help students, especially overseas students, pay off their fees without any hassle. The scheme would also give students the confidence to choose more relevant courses, instead of opting for reasonable ones.

OCBC Bank was the first commercial bank in the region to bring back education loans in 2011, after many banks stopped providing the facility. In 2015, the bank introduced the first education loan in the country in which fixed deposits could be used as collateral, making it feasible for students who are pursuing their tertiary education.

The new loan is available for selected Malaysian and international educational institutions. The total funding provided for both part-time and full-time students is RM250,000. The repayment tenure has been extended from 7 to 10 years with the interest repayment extended up to 5 years.
