With the introduction of SecurePay One Time Password, you do not have to memorise a static online PIN every time you perform an online purchase. The SecurePay One Time Password will be sent to your registered mobile number and you must use it to complete the online purchase.
SecurePay One Time Password
This is an authentication required to make online purchases to ensure that you have performed the transaction and is authorised by you. It is a 6 digit password that will be sent to your registered mobile number.
If the card has a supplementary card, then the supplementary card holder will also get the SecurePay One Time Password on their registered mobile number to continue making the online purchase.
How does SecurePay One Time Password work?
When you are making an online purchase at the participating Merchant’s website, you will be required to enter the SecurePay One Time Password to authenticate the transaction. The SecurePay One Time Password will be sent through SMS to your registered mobile number.
You will then have to enter the SecurePay One Time Password within 3 minutes of receiving the password.
You have to update your mobile number that is maintained with HSBC to avoid confusion.
In the event you do not receive the password, you can click on the ‘Did not receive OTP SMS’ button and request for another one. The password will be immediately sent to your mobile number.
If you enter an invalid OTP up to 3 times, the online purchase will be blocked. You will then have to contact HSBC Customer care for further assistance.
In the event you receive an OTP but, you haven’t made any request for the same, immediately call the customer care to block the credit card.
